Bad News Darin Newsom on M2M

He just looks down pausing before answering anything on wheat, how maybe it could be used on oil spills, it`d be good if a hard freeze nails it coming out of dormancy..."but you can`t kill it".   Bad news on corn and beans too.  Have the wife lock up the sharp objects and watch this:

Ba.......Notice the affect of continue talk of Trade Wars is having on markets as in trending down . While I realize these sales may be near or close to COP......less or lower sales is not a good thing.  M2M analysis price wise was NOT good for anything !!

Re: Bad News Darin Newsom on M2M

John, yeah there are still 1 or 2 million more of us than we could start an effective cartel with  🙂  so until then we`ll have to be "price takers".    I`m layed up with a touch of the flu and watched a Rifleman episode where the rifleman`s son Mark is hanging off the edge of a cliff, a outlaw played by Michael Landon rescues Mark, but breaks his leg.  The Rifleman knows that he and the gang are outlaws but is beholding to their saving Mark, he doctors up the Michael Landon character and even tells the marshall that he hasn`t seen them, when he comes a lookin`.  That`s kind of where production agriculture is in world trade, we are one of the sole domestic benneficiaries, so when the marshall comes around looking we are beholding to the trade policies that we feel we need to stay the course.

We have fear that doing the right thing might turn our individual opperations into decades of unprofitabilty.  The easiest avenue is to keep doing what we`ve been doing, even if our heads only occasionally come above water to temporarily catch our breaths.  But as a boy that used to hunt cottontails with a .22 if they quit running, that is when you could shoot `em, so long as they ran, they had a chance to get to cover, but sitting still was deadly.

The world has gotten used to this free trade way of doing business, where the US is the "patsy at the poker table".  There isn`t any guarantees of will things be better or worse for agriculture if we demand fair trade?   But I do know that 100% of the cottontails that stopped running got shot, because I saw `em.   The world needs our ag products or their people might rebel if their protein diet is cut short, we sure can do without their plastic, pink flamingoes.

Altenator went out on my buddy`s Dodge pickup, drove him to OReilly and it had a big ol` sticker "Made in China"...seriously, we can`t make a altenator in this country as cheap and good as one 10,000 miles away??  It cost him $130.   I look at the 1980`s when things got tough, many farmers got off farm jobs at the factories to get by, and must`ve thought it was was good because they stayed and never went back to their farm.  Today, some of those factories are gone, off farm jobs available are sorting nuts and bolts at Bomgaars...not that that`s a bad job, but you`d have to work there 3 days to buy one bag of seedcorn.

I typed this post on alot of medication...let`s just say, don`t post when on drugs

Re: Bad News Darin Newsom on M2M

I lost this nice post on wheat that basically disputed Darrins issues on wheat -------- this process is goofy.......

and I aint going back through it

It was my best post  ever             so remember it

With this chart i questioned usda claims that wheat yields raised 21 % nationally in one year.  And not a good year...in Ks or Okla.

That would be the equivilent to raising corn yields national average by 35 bushels per acre.....

And several other interesting issues spiced with a spot of humor and simmering now in my head because I took too long to research the details.

But it was great ............... IT WAS A TRADE DEAL great.... 🙂

He needs to quit talking to Tomm Phitzenmier just before he is interviewed.

Had a rally after Tomm said there was no hope last time he was on that show.

Can lightning strike twice?

BA, understand, i believe i might also to  might have distemper, second antibotic in a month.

SW i've noted that also, i'll be typing and need to go out to the web to get something, then by the time i get back, do more typing,

and with a big smile on my face, i'll hit the return, and it comes back, with some sort of error message !!

I've noted Pfistimeyer (sorry about the spelling)...i call him "sunshine".....i've rarely seen him put a bright spin on anything, but

i'll admit once in a while.

i guees like newsom said, we've got to find new uses.....hmmmm, i wonder, could we make sprinkles out wheat ?  i guess spray

paint them different colors......

i don't know if you can pop them or not....you can pop certain corns, and milo......popped wheat ?

anyone remember wheat nuts ???  i used to like them, but haven't seen them around for a while, and i thought it was a bit

on the high side.....you think they would be cheap now.

Re: Bad News Darin Newsom on M2M

Not all wheat is the same.

Minneapolis spring wheat (the higher protein) wheat is seeing some life.

Some other things Derwood might have missed is where else is there really big quantities of corn available? SA went negative supplies this year. Gonna take the second crop to bring that one up.

Last time I checked our crop hasn't even had the seed delivered yet.

@ $3.50ish New crop corn the fringe area's are gonna drop corn acres like a hot potato. Just too pricy to plant.

We came within just a few days last summer in a fairly large area of the heart of the corn belt of a drought reduced crop. The year we aren't so lucky weather wise and the surplus becomes valuable.

A sixty day or less supply should not be reason to become a chicken Little running around in despair.

Mato Grosso, Brazil has just started harvesting beans. Supposed to get a week of Rainey weather with 5 to 10" of rain coverage. At 85 ° F temps might start getting some pretty nasty looking samples in the grain tank. Brazil exports whole beans, might be some cancellations there too?

I kind of hate to ruin my attitude in Jan when there are just too many variables that may just line up on my side of the ledger.

Re: Bad News Darin Newsom on M2M

Grape nuts................... it is officially Grape NUTS    In a time when grapes are seedless through Genetic Engineering...... we call on the Grape to keep wheat nuts selling in times of irrational Gluten Phobia.

There are other names by which we drive them accross the border, beat em up, and sneak them back in as a Grape product.  Other manufacturers are trying different things to market a little wheat incognito.

Keep it down though ----- Usda probably doesn't know their made of wheat.  Farm Bureau might start contributing to build the wall and keep the GRAPE nuts out,  then we will have a standoff at Battle Creek where we can compare our knowledge of civics and science....

Keep this in mind............. a bushel of wheat has 7/10 of a pound of phos.  one of the highest phos levels of foods...  So that is 48 cents of value per bushel.  If darrin has his way we can recycle our wheat as bean fertilizer by the time the years out.  Remove the elevator and government from the equation and the value of a bushel of wheat tops 60 cents.....   we have a rally.....

There are a few phrases that commodity commentators can use no matter where the markets are going.  Darrin had a few.... I aint going back to sort them out but his seemed related to "when hell freezes over"......

Re: Bad News Darin Newsom on M2M

Hobby you hit it on the head..... as usual...

When you have finished 4 out of 5 tough years...saved only by a beautiful spasm in the market.... and now finish a demoralizing year when world trade and at least half the country (plus three million dead)  Heart  don't care about those water poluting rich farmers who can only be saved by the organic life preserver that is built to hold 6.

Everybody loves a commentator who steps up and says "YOUR DOOMED"------ in January
