Bloomberg can teach you how to farm.

I wonder how he is on marketing?  Smiley Very Happy   I`m not mad at him, he`s a idiot elitist just speaking his mind, that`s how they ALL think about us.  And every damned one of `em seeking the nomination will back Bloomberg if he`s the nominee.   Study your lesson people!

Napoleon Bloomberg-aparte at it again, eh?  "I could teach anybody, even people in this room, no offense intended, to be a farmer.  It’s a process. You dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on top, add water, up comes the corn.” - Michael Bloomberg

And we wonder why nobody has respect for farmers.

Well, since it's "Can't Make This Stuff Up" Monday:

By last Friday, the novel coronavirus had killed six health workers and infected 1,700 medical staff in China, according to Beijing. Above, medical workers transfer a patient in the isolation wards for the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, at a hospital in Wuhan on February 6

"....Wuhan Virus? ...no worries...piece-o-cake.

"Ahhhh, what's that you're telling me?  Force majeure?"

Re: And what's that got to do with the price of tea in China?

I don`t grow tea, but I raise corn and if a presidential candidate thinks anyone can dig a hole drop a seed in and get a corn stalk...  Okay Mr Mayor how deep should I dig the hole to drop the kernel of corn?   Won`t it be easier to use a planter?  Would I have to control weeds?  You didn`t mention anything about weeds.  What about fertilizer?  Will planting one stalk make me enough money to live for the year?

See, the guy is a idiot and all the "sensible"  Klobuchars and Buttgeigs are on record that they will support that moron if he`s the nominee.  Douchberg isn`t even smart enough to keep quiet when he doesn`t know something.  But like I say, they all think this way.

Re: Bloomberg can teach you how to farm.

I suppose what Bloomberg was trying to say is we need less manure pitchers and more computer clickety-clackers. But we can`t have a nation with 120 million professional computer clickety-clackers, someone has to fix the broken pipe in the basement, someone has to load the hogs on the trailer.  And I don`t think the rest of the world is just figuratively allow us to go to a "Dilbert cubicle" to work every day while they`re stuck with the grunt work.

One day in the future autonomous farm equipment and trucks and it will affect farming and truckdrivers, but that day isn`t tomorrow. The technology affordability will have to come down and it`s safety & reliability will have to improve.

Bloomberg, who claimed he would not seek the 2020 nomination was caught in a candid moment in his Oxford University speech.  His destain for calloused hand people was very apparent .  His desire to micro manage people`s lives by limiting the size of their soda drink in New York City, one could only imagine what havoc he would wreak across farm country with regulations.

I`m not convinced that idiot Bloomberg is serious about running, however look that the candidates who say they are "on our side" then out of the other side of their mouth say they will support any nominee against our current President whose a proven friend of the farmer.

Jimmy Rogers (former partner of George Soros) would often say "Be a farmer, they`ll drive Lamborghinis one day!" well, that didn`t pan out yet, but at least Jimmy respected those that brought the food to his supermarket.

Re: Bloomberg can teach you how to farm.

Faux outrage aside, operating farm families are down to less than 1% of the workforce anyway, so largely immaterial.

But anyway, in the day when more than half of US workers were either farmers or factory workers the economy's demand for advanced education was considerably less. Stop the presses for that big shocker of a story.

As far as what policies might help American Carnage Land- struggling Red State America- free universal community college* is one solid policy option and a lot more egalitarian than free 4 year college.

There are only going to be fewer farm jobs, come what may, and if there are manufacturing jobs they're going to be more advanced. Nobody is going to reshore or build a low value added, labor intensive factory.

Giving farmers more money doesn't do a lot in terms of rural development any more. That needs to stand on its own merits.

*one of the feature, not bug things in "privatization" is that you create a self promoting lobby- in this case where we let the for profit institutions get their forelegs in the government trough. Free CC isn't a threat to well established colleges and universities but it would be deadly to the for profit sector and they'll pay big lobby money for their survival.
