Re: Brazilian region will get largest corn area reduction in 15 years
Actually, I've been surprisingly calm today, as you can tell maybe by my typing. I'm not at all worried anymore about this corn and bean market - it will take care of itself. Sooner or later, the selling in the face of overwhelming bullish news will win out. I'm long. I'm staying long. I don't care what the market does in the short term. With this devaluing of the dollar, and all the other stuff out there, the longer we stay down, the more explosive this thing can become. It's just a matter of time.

92 degrees here in ne kansas now..beans are turning yellow due mostly to the fact to dry and hot to long. I would agree though Jen..close your eyes and breath, it will all be okay. As for me I just got back from meetings and will now spray for sericia in the pastures..now more worried about matt dillon, he is a hell of a fix again.. but i am sure it will all be okay, as with the markets

Re: Brazilian region will get largest corn area reduction in 15 years
Let's revisit the SX and taking out the market lows, now that we're in the last 10 minutes of trading. Funny haw we can be around $13.40 for two and a half hours, then in the last minutes of the day the market, with a surprisingly few number of contracts - looks like only about 100 or so - we suddenly go back to where we were shortly after the market opened. And will probably be higher now on the day. What a crock these markets are. Why do we farmers put up with this? There's got to be a better way than sweating out a chart every day of harvest time.

Re: Brazilian region will get largest corn area reduction in 15 years
Well, let's clarify that this is happening in an specific region and perhaps is temporary. If the price gets strong gain, I bet this talk will return. There is also the problem of the cost of production, due to caterpillars.
I don't think in the center-west they will diminish area. However, corn earworm (or the caterpillar helicoverpa) is costing billions in losses to producers in the center-west and in the state of Bahia, where it was originated. There is an ongoing investigation by the Brazilian Federal Police and the Intelligence Agency indicating that the corn earworm might be brought through bioterrorism. The sources of bioterrorism were not revealed yet. The catterpillar is also affecting cotton crops heavily.

Sorry, I just saw it now. Yes, it is very accurate. Reflects a little of what said before at the floor talk.

Re: Brazilian region will get largest corn area reduction in 15 years
no worries, luis...thanks
do you see how it would appear, based on the relative maps, that SA is SIGNIFICANTLY drier than US?..and we are in a bit of a flash-drought ourselves - do you have any thoughts on the comparison?
thanks again for your service.
