Re: Can you top this?

Re: Can you top this?
Hey hobby I'd rather have crooked rows than the gaps in the rows you were showing in previous pictures of yur own corn.

Re: Can you top this?
SW - just a couple acres on barter for some straw. Saw my "real hillbilly"
hobby farmer " neighbors planting with their johnny popper and 4 row cyclo with a guy on the tractor and a couple riding the planter. Maybe too many back step drivers! Real hillbillies here. One guy works all summer in his bare feet.

Re: Can you top this?
NDF Here is that exact same field from the same location taken with a real camera. In the background beyond the fence line you can see the BTO/grower unplanted field of pennycrest has been over taken by other weeds.
Guess his 36 row planter just wasn't up to the task.
Here is same field, just rotated 90 degrees
Notice the water just standing on the freshly planted bean field at the end of this field.
also notice the wind leaned this corn all over the place and notice the weeds, at least half of the fields in this area are not or have not been sprayed yet. hasn't rained since yesterday evening here.
I'll take this over most all the corn I saw last on last Sundays drive up in the $12,000 northern Iowa area.
I know this doesn't meet your standards and that I guess is why I'm just a hobbyist and not a grower like yourself.

Re: Can you top this?
Yes and we need three days to dry out to be able to get in the fields with spray equip. I may be able to run tomorrow afternoon IF we miss the chance of rain tonight and tomorrow . This is getting critical for many and most are not as well tiled out as I am.
I like to spray with the challenger on tracks but it will not turn in the mud. I may be out there with the little MFWA and a 500 gal sprayer, half loaded.
The rain mud situation is much worse just 6 or 7 miles south of me to the Mo border at least.
Need to rethink the chemical program as it may be just a one shot deal with the size of the corn and the rate of growth it is achieving. Probably also going to have to go to 20 gpa to get spray to the weeds.

Re: Can you top this?
I know it's a little more expensive, but how long will you let these weeds go if it stays wet before you will consider an aerial sprayer?

Re: Can you top this?
Spraying glypos from the air here would not be the smartest thing one could do. The other problem is there aren't many around here and I'll bet the waiting list is long. I will probably be able to get a big sprayer in first after a few dry days due to mine will be drier before a lot of others will be able to go. I've got a week maybe 10 days tops with my equip.
