Chasin' that neon rainbow

well alan jackson was singing this on the radio this morning, and it kind of stuck in my brain.........and got me to

thinking.....(yes that is usually not a good thing)

I think today, many are "chasin' that neon rainbow"...we have this idea, propagated by the ag industry, that we must

be the biggest.....the key is size......that is all that maters.

well i've seen some of them.....i tend to think of them as "too big to think"........they have the suppliers "think for them".

rather than search their own souls, or their referece material, they call their dealer.....and they do what is suggested.....

they are too busy to research.....when taking the grain the idea is speed speed speed......even tho that means taking

a lesser amount for their grain....we got to get done now..fertilizer.......while nh3 and dry are cheaper....oh no...take too

long got to  go go go.

maybe this is the time to  ask ((hold on editors))....we need to define "successful farming"........or maybe we need

to have a new definiation.......

to me the "honkey tonk dream"....sounds better and better every day

but maybe......maybe........a successful farmer.......might be "little bitty"....or maybe even "a small town southern man"

but........"here in the real world".....things at the corperate board room might not agree

Re: Chasin' that neon rainbow

Here sing a long to this one:

"Take this commodity and shove it, I ain't speculating here no more. Market done left, took all my earnings, I was uh lookin for. You better not try to stand in my way, 'cause I'm headed for the door. Take this commodity and shove it, I ain't tradin here no more."

So, this could have been the theme song for the funds, since June 14. Let's take a look at the numbers.

June 14, 2016, the funds were long the corn market with 272,000 contracts. On July 5, 2016, that same group of investors held 107,000 long contracts. So, they shed 165,000 long contracts in less than a month.

For soybeans, in the same timeframe, the funds had 214,642 long contracts. On July, they held 160,438 long contracts. They shed 54,174 long soybean contracts.

You're not getting what you asked for?  I guess you push the little "abuse" button and write a comment to the staff.

Re: Chasin' that neon rainbow

Now lets be careful here.  Humor in the marketing section??   That might be dangerous>>

What is marketing without "irony" and a smile occasionally?

Markets are maddening without humor.

I been dreaming of the day when Slim123 posted and I got it.

Finally ........

Slim it is the truth of the ages ........... every 20 years the old cons work again......global warming..... the end is near....

and in 1936 most everybody was looking at the end... in one way or another...
