Don't know why I posted these. Probably just so we can look back on them a few weeks from now and laugh about how wrong they were. You know we were supposed to have a wet winter this past year in the southern plains - didn't happen. We were supposed to be overly dry starting in June - didn't happen. Not saying this forecast will or won't happen, but we all know by now its a crap shoot. Just something to talk about / chew on.

Rains last night sliced a little off a couple of the dry pockets or at least gave a welcome respite- SE IA, S. MI.

Ohio looks to be the biggest problem area.

Then, as you say, a ridge is forecast to set up in the middle of the country. Probably pretty good timing if it doesn't stick around too long- corn mostly pollinated and watered, beans with some time yet to fill.

Or not if it sticks around. Currently no tropical storms in the hurricane pipeline which is something that often shakes things up in August.
