Our Current Jet Stream:
As I have been talking about, the Jet dropping into the Central US is bringing with it cold temperatures over the Central US. Temperatures here in MN are going to be mostly steady today, and dropping below freezing tonight over much of MN and WI. This is effectively going to bring to an end the growing season over much of the Upper Midwest. Even though you may not freeze tonight, it is inevitable, as temps over the next ten days will barely get out of the low 50's over ND, MN, WI. IA, IL, IN, Lower MI and OH will fare a bit better, for now.
Temps tomorrow night will bring a chance of frost as far south as Central MO:
as cold funnels into the US from the Arctic. This is going to persist into much of next week, as the big Low in the Jet Stream stalls north of Lake Superior, and actually is forecast to retrograde a bit East, before it makes a speedy exit to the Northeast late next week. This is the Jet forecast for next Tuesday:

New Maps out for tomorrow night. Colder - and a larger area, than when I looked at the maps earlier. This now indicates a Freeze over most of WI, and N IL, IN, and OH could all see frost with this update for Saturday night, Sunday morning:
Ten days from now, the Jet drops even farther South:
which will bring some of the coolest temperatures of the season as far South as TX. This is 10 days away, but this could bring a blast of cold air into MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, MI, and OH. But it's still 10 days away, and a lot can happen.
For the next week, good harvest weather will build in. Our next chances of rain in the southern and easter Midwest are about a week away, and it's a change from the weather systems we have been seeing, as this one comes in from the NM, Panhandles area and moves NE.
