Corn boil

Jump to solution

Is ongoing in some areas. Maybe China will cancel some corn to balance things.

In the meantime looks like $7. 50 for harvest. Well see.

The world supply of corn is really down to two suppliers, USA and Ukraine this fall and winter.

Brazil is probably neutral and sucking Paraguay and quite a bit of Argentina's crop for their increasing livestock needs.

South Africa is offline for the foreseeable future.

Anecdotal account from local person that went to Carroll Iowa, "suffering greatly ".

That is west central Iowa.

My crop is far from having any idea how it will turn out.

Yesterday and today is not doing it any favors here in South Podunk country.

Bushels are being deducted from the potential at planting.

It`s been crappy weather around the planet.  ADM says China will need 2 MMT of soybeans extra to offset their lackluster rapeseed crop.

Can't store what you don't have, can't get, and can't afford.

The biggest (only?) check on China's ambition is the fact that they can't feed their own people themselves (unless it's back to a bowl of rice each day). Governments around the world are keenly aware that a hungry populace is a dangerous populace, which is one of the reasons we are continually encouraged to overproduce.

It does seem that "Just in Time" inventory management may be one of the casualties of the Covid outbreak. I know my wife and I no longer practice it. Whether it's TP in the closet or diesel in the tanks, I no longer take for granted that I can get what I need as soon as the store opens.

Projecting "western" values on the CCP is laughable.

They've proven multiple times that people are expendable to them.

Curious how these regimes can't exist without their secret police making people "disappear".
