Is this a reflection of the above normal size of the corn crop,  or how poor the soybean crop was?

Both. The Brazilian biotechnology makes corn much more profitable than soybeans. Therefore, there is a trend of corn growth. However, corn wouldn't dethrone soybeans this year without the drought.Not so quick.
