Crop Pics

One of the spots we replanted with 0.8's last Friday/Saturday once the fields dried up enough to work. There are several more

acres just over the ridge about 200 feet to the south of this one that went underwater when the county ditch flooded.  All told we had 9 spots that got replanted.

Those little beanies were up in 3 days!!  Got 0.3" of rain on them Monday evening to help them along.

Big question is will they make it?!?!  Hoping for that El Nino to keep the frost away.

Can they catch up to the 2.0's planted mid May??

Re: Crop Pics

Thanks for the pics, you will need some warm temps and a late frost to bring them home.  It is to be 10* to 20* below normal for a few days next week around here.

Re: Crop Pics

Lsc: the non replanted beans look small how far behind "normal" are they, or are they?

Re: Crop Pics

My guess is we're about 3 weeks behind "normal" given the wet/cool year we've had.  These beans are in peat ground that at some point in the distant past was the bottom of a lake.  This ground ususally helps our overall yield average, especially in years like 2012.  Just our turn this year I guess to deal with excess moisture.  Hard for the tile to drain anything when the county ditch is flooded.

Re: Crop Pics

Late planted beans here in Cannon Falls didn't make it (beans after peas), and I doubt that they will this year either. I see our season being two weeks or so shorter than last year at this point. Lots of very wet crop to try and dry down, again.

The elevator where I worked last fall looks like it will be very busy this fall, but my guess is I'll be spending this coming winter in OKC.
