Crop tour Kansas.......

Yesterday

Started at Liberal, to Dodge City, ---Great Bend,   Salina,  Clay Center    and back a second way... That is Southwest to north central Ks.

corn------- burnt leaves and poor or pale and short everywhere unless irrigated.---- only decent dry land corn in Ks I have seen is in south central around Wichita.. poor on this trip lots of 50 bushel potential... And acres stop approaching Salina area.... less planted

Soybeans--- In the salina to clay center area many acres of soybeans instead of corn....... Beans look better yesterday than three weeks ago.  Late but Coming on...

Grain sorghum------ Looked pretty good everywhere.... everywhere had moisture and the Grain sorghum is coming on very well

The Dodge City area had the best milo

If your driving through or in the area take a short trip off Hwy 54 north at Minneola to Dodge City... It's just 20 miles but nearly all dryland and the milo is beautiful.  Every field has 100+ bu potential... Great weed control... picture book stuff...... And it looks even better driving North to South  Dodge to Minneola..  Smiley Happy

Re: Crop tour Kansas.......

Nice report! Glad to hear Kansas has a good sorghum crop coming. Is the demand for sorghum still really good? Seems like Ive been hearing how good the Kansas corn crop is this year. By the looks of your report, the Kansas corn crop isnt all its cracked up to be? That seems to be the story everywhere this year.

Re: Crop tour Kansas.......

Liberal ethanol. Milo is -10 of dec corn. Corn +35.

Milo fun is over. Last fall was a reward for
Being out of inventory when the export market called.
We always produce for last years market and, thanks to usda we have an abundance of unproduced crop to fill this years market.
The fate of the market early doctrine.

Went through NW Ohio and NE IN today.  Half a crop is being very generous. Feel for you guys.

Re: Crop tour Kansas.......

It will be fun seeing the milo pouring into the combine. But a different story at the elevator. Twice the crop but same dollars compared to last year?
