MAP tells only part of the story

In the 'normal' area going north there is 2-4' of snow on the ground in northern N Dakota. The Red River will not even pick up steam for a while yet - the latest ever. The entire Canadian Plains above is in a deep freeze w/ a pile of snow. It's not melting soon - but when it does there are going to be great issues for crops this year.

The market doesn't have time for this story now - but it will later.

Re: MAP tells only part of the story

Right now it is starting to feel like 1993.  But, it could turn out to be like 2004 yet.   Just another day at the casino.  For guys that sell all ahead, they have more guts than I.

I always call my old grain stocks my sleeping pills.  But, many a time this year I have wished I let them go early last fall.  Maybe the fat lady hasn't sang yet.

Re: DON'T Shoot the messenger

Very hard to put 8 dollar corn in the bin. I kept half and sold half at harvest. When the sun is shining on a November Sunday, it's hard to say you're not gonna put any in the bin... Have sold most of what I kept with a strong basis above last fall's price. About 8 trailer loads left to play with. I'll need 2k bushel of that myself for grinding creep feed, the rest is my Vegas stock. Good luck to all with grain in the tank!

Re: DON'T Shoot the messenger

The 2013 corn belt is getting smaller everyday, and I think we will see a bit of a bull run at some point in both old crop corn and new crop corn. Not so sure about soybeans, they may actually benefit from the delayed planting and cold start, and see more acres than expected.
