Ok then. Lets here some opinions on where the next big shot of money will flow. Stocks, then techs, flipping houses, now farmland,  gold, silver. What is next? Wouldn't  we all like to know?

With the federal debt crisis and all the money they have printed I wouldn't be surprised if just having cash to loan to banks will be the next thing.  I remember the early 80's and getting 15% interest.

Wow what is the deal with guys coming to southern Michigan to either pay extreme land rents or pay outrages prices for a farm. I hate to break it to these folks but Michigan isn't Iowa, I don't go by the name blackSANDfarmer for nothing! These guys look at reasonable land prices here and think they are getting a deal. (Hardly) The out of town guy who last winter leased a Hillsdale county MI/ Fulton county OH farm in a land rent auction for nearly $400 an acre is probably wishing he wouldn't have about now. That area hasn't seen a drop or rain in nearly a month. I don't wish bad luck on these people but at the same time they need to look at the county yield averages. The Hillsdale county farm and the farm around Niles where this investor bought his farm is 130 bushel corn country! You just cant come here and expect to make a bank farming this sandy, rocky dirt. I love the part where he figures he paid $6,000 an acre for the tillable land....... So that makes the house that came with the land worth 1.4 million? All you can do is wish this guy luck. Most would agree you cannot farm just for an investment or to drive a tractor, farming is a labor of love and a way of life. Its obvious this guy's biggest thing riding against him is he feels neither.

Maybe i ought to look him up and see what he would take for cash rent. I don't know how much money there is in raising watermelons but it migh be better than corn and beans.

That is one thing abouthaving big bucks in that you can try something and of it turns bad you still got enough to try again. I think those of us with modest means can't even fathom how much some folks have.

While none of us really know where the next big shot of money will flow, I'd hazard a guess that it will be in the energy sector.  I'd even pinpoint it down to natural gas.  Natural gas has had it's peaks in 05' and 08', but over the long run it has been rather enemic.  The powers that be realize that in order for the economies around the globe to grow there must be cheap energy.
