Does It get any worse???
You don't have to go far and it's a different story. Missouri is an absolute mess!!! Lots of corn hasn't been planted some farmers don't have a kernel in the ground. Many many acres need replanting and what is up can't grow. Corn that was planted went in from the 14th-20th of April and is anywhere from 2" to 6" tall. Our river that we farm along (Grand) reached 39.1 ft. last weekend which was no. 7 for an all time high. We held it to 39.9 in "07 by sandbagging. Lost our levee in '08 after a 3 day battle of sandbagging. Never got the levee fixed until Aug. of '09 so this time last May we were flooded. Now this year we are going thru this for the 4 th yr. in a row.
Good luck to you guys in the good areas, but I think lots of corn in Mo. is set up to be diasasterous. Our final plant date is Tues. and so swampy here you can't mow the yard. I don't know how the crops that are planted are even surviving. Don't have much forward sold so maybe that's a good thing.

Re: Does It get any worse???
The problem with bragging about the weather- there is always someone worse off and probably someone better off. I did not mean to hurt your feelings. I know how frustrating it is when you get the bad end of a weather problem and someone braggs about how good things are. I probably have neighbors who have a lot of acres to plant and don't think things are so good either. I hope youu get the hot weather you need soon...Soyroy

Re: Does It get any worse???
I have not been to Missouri, but I have been through Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio and its very wet. Some farmers have 0% corn planted. Everyone I talked to was just hoping this rain would miss them so they could get back in the field. I talked with one guy at an equipment dealership that was buying a large no-till drill for planting soybeans, he said he never no-tills beans but this year he will not have time for tillage. It rained all last night, I just wonder how many farmers will take preventive planting?
