Does it get any better?
Does it get any better than this? I finished planting soybeans yesterday afternoon. I had time to get the planter home and in the shed. I got the seed beans retturned that I did not use. I woke up around 5 A.M. to the sound of rain. So far enough has fallen to sprout those beans that did not get placed into moist soil. Before you get too impressed, remember that I am probably the smallest farmer in Cass County NE, judged by acres not stature! Today I will use the the office time to report my planted acres to the FSA. I sould be ahead of the pack because most farmers in this area still have soybeans to plant....Soyroy

Re: Does it get any better?
Roy good to hear. I was wondering if the markets get any better than this. You look at other comod and seem like the grains have held their own but I fear time will take there toll there to .Nine dollar beans are not bad are they?

Re: Does it get any better?
Well.... good to hear. I am at the other end of the spectrum. (SE Illinois) Wet since April 23, (two 1/2 days of field work since then) corn to finish and replant. Corn to spray and bean fertilizer to spread and beans to plant.
suggest more rain today. So we are several days from field work. But it would go fast if we could get 2 weeks of good weather and the hot weather coming up will speed drying. I'm sure we'll get our chance
Always read your marketing threads and follow many of your marketing rules. Well, maybe not follow them close enough, always too bullish. Have a good season

Re: Does it get any better?
Roy, Thought you were going to say "by the time I got back from the seed dealer, my beans were already sprouted"
We sure are starting out asone of the best years ever. Early seasonal pressure on prices is mounting, always susceptable
to WX risk but could be heavy, heavy eary on.

Re: Does it get any better?
I finished planting soybeans on Wednesday, the 19th. 20 acres left from a breakdown. Most planted in early May. Corn is all up, no beans rowing yet. Weeds really bad. I didn't spray preplant and am paying the price. Need to get out ASAP.

Re: Does it get any better?
I forgot to mention that the custom applicator was in the field Monday morning when I got there. He used something new for Mares tail control and it looks really good by now. I will post what he used when I find out myself!...Soyroy

Re: Does it get any better?
I sold on the way up. Usual situation, didn't sell enough. My next increment was going to be $10 or close. There will probably be one more chance, but maybe not for $10. I can live with $9 beans. It is still above break even, especially if we get yields like the last 5 years. My son-in-law and grand kids were in your town last weekend visiting the other grandparents. I understand things are green there, as they are here....Soyroy

Re: Does it get any better?
Roy, good to hear planting went well. Im all done with planting, but I dont farm alot of acres, our area is most of the way done with planting corn and beans. However I took a trip into Northwest Ohio today and saw a different story. Farmers in that region would be lucky to be 50% done with corn planting. The ground is very wet and many farmers there wont be able to get back in the fields for days. I talked to one guy that farms 1,500 acres and he told me he has yet to plant anything! It will be interesting to say the least if we get that rain that they are talking about.

You are definitely living right, Roy!
I must be doing something wrong!
