EPA..."ROUND UP" restrictions

EPA will require weed-resistance restrictions on glyphosate herbicide

(Reuters) - U.S. regulators will put new restrictions on the world's most widely used herbicide to help address the rapid expansion of weeds resistant to the chemical, Reuters has learned.

The Environmental Protection Agency confirmed it will require a weed resistance management plan for glyphosate, the key ingredient in Monsanto's immensely popular Roundup weed-killer.

-------------------------------------------------------

The EPA's action comes in the wake of a finding by the World Health Organization's cancer research unit this month that glyphosate is "probably carcinogenic to humans," a conclusion the working group said was based on a review of years of scientific research. Testing has found residues of the herbicide in water, food, urine and breast milk.

Re: EPA..."ROUND UP" restrictions

I wonder how much was sold for residential use by walmart, home stores, etc? How much of that was not used per the directions?

Re: EPA..."ROUND UP" restrictions

Monsanto really missed the boat regarding practices to control weed resistance from using only glysophate. But, they were cutting a fat hog selling the RR seed AND the herbicide and cutting out the competition.

The reality is that tank mixes are necessary to continue RU at all. Had tank mixes been iencouraged from the git go resistance might have been later or minor on many of the weeds that have become resistant now.
