EU wheat

The EU, including central Europe, was scheduled for a big crop, France being the biggest producer. After damaging rains at harvest  France is importing milling wheat from Poland and other central EU countries,

Germany produces higher protein milling wheat for blending and now, it too, is being bothered by rain which is delaying harvest and no doubt affecting the quality. Western Europe will have a lot of lower grade wheat that won't make it into export channels.

They need to get busy making wheat burners to stay warm this winter. Going to take a while to make as many as they will need  when it gets cold outside.

I just looked it up and 

Corn 500,000 btu/ bu.   56#

Rye  505,000 btu / bu.   60#

Wheat 505,00 but/bu.    60#

I'm sure barley and Milo are right there too.

With the world awash in grain a few million grain stoves in European homes might kill two birds with one stone.

Help with using the surplus feed quality grain and not have to kiss up to mother Russia for heat or freeze. 

On another side of this,  we import quite a bit of our nh 3 from Russia how is that going to work out next spring?

Doing our part to reduce wheat inventory in Ontario.

Not as much winter whet planted last fall and then the winter thinned it out some more.

Now that harvest is supposed to be in full swing it is wet and forecast to be humid too for the next week.

Good quality for what is off but reports now of sprouts and fusarium which will only get worse with our forecast.

Not sure what % is harvested but lots still to go.

May have to get some wheat stoves for Ontario too.

Where is all this surplus grain? Go back 3 years ago, there were more grain pile on the ground going into harvest. And then they said we would run out. Demand would pass supply by 2015.

What is the condition of wheat crop in your area Palouser haven't heard you say much lately.  I also haven't heard much about canada'a crop and condition.  Here in North Dakota the crop looks to be execellent one but is way behind normal and will need to have good fall to complete this crop. I am getting concerned we keep getting cooler than normal conditions which is good for the wheat if we have long enough fall but it could lead to crop being vulnerable to frost. This bear market in all three exchanges is feeding on itself with each crop report showing better crop to be produced for this year. Us northern tier states are way behind in development and i am begiinning to wonder when market will respond to this. It will never show up in crop condition report because the crop looks good but it could change in weeks notice to very poor crop if early frost would hit.

A side note. Today I talked to a seed company
in NE ks. Trying to get a feel on next years
Seed cost, and maybe a dealership.
He mentioned in passing wheat seed which
I didn't know they worked with.
He said they had good crop, 80 bu or more
An acre (hrw). He said same or lower
Price than last year.

And about 50% more in price than last
year.

What a difference 200 miles makes.
