Early Harvest?
I'm wondering if early harvesters will be ignoring the September corn futures contract more so than other years, due to weaker price.
Not price, but advanced crop development could mean an early harvest for you or your neighbors, perhaps? What do you hear?
And if there is an early harvest, that September contract is not appealing at all, right now.
So, with no rush to get the crop to market, will corn sit in the field longer than normal?
What say you?

Re: Early Harvest?
A guy was hauling old corn and getting a 140 ft grain leg put up, so there`ll be delivering old crop for a while yet Seems like every year someone vows to let the corn sit and others harvest with moist in the high 20`s to avoid phantom losses, but all it takes is for someone to start and it`s off to the races. Around here a lot of corn hasn`t dented yet so it`ll be into October before it really gets going.
Corn price around here will jump a dime as the calendar turns to September.

Re: Early Harvest?
It's interesting that somebody posted on my Twitter feed a video of shelling corn, already, for a feedlot. This guy says it's a first for him, shelling in August.
So, what I'm really saying in the original post is that it seems that agronomics not economics is driving this year's 'harvest bus'. Crops going to be ready early, due to a faster growing pace, this year.

Re: Early Harvest?
Weather pushed this crop, not genetics.
