I just wish I was smart enough, had the

I will agree I need to "ride the rollercoaster"

Yes, I can see things going up and

Difficult, timing is everything, just

I would be happy if I could capture half

Sell on a spring rally?    Is it spring yet?

Re: Early spring

60 today. Next 10 days range highest temp is 59 and lowest 28. Certainly feels like it

Spring rally may come quicker than last year so be on your toes and if you believe any of what I said don't do all cash contracts. Keep some on the board to pull if things heat up this summer

Re: Early spring

Perma Bulls always have that mentality. I prefer to sell and defend. Sell new crop and buy back in the fall with options or futures. If you believe the next big rally is around the corner you will end up storing three or four years worth of crops.

Re: Early spring

If it's that easy then cash rent your ground out and buy bushels on the board?

Prior to 2003 selling ahead was almost a no brainer. Almost no fundamentals to speak of with reserves to spare in acres and the tank

Supply and demand is a different beast today

Case in point the reason for my post

Re: Early spring

What fun would that be. If I did that I couldn't call myself a farmer and win free steaks and booze on silly bets.

Re: Early spring

Like I said. If it's a sure thing then take production risk to zero by cash renting your ground and just buy the sure thing?

Re: Early spring

After getting our early September frost again (freeze in my area) I'm sure the yields will just get better seems to help some more than others. Not any snow here yet but March is yet come. See the new drought map gets a little uglier for the upper Midwest.

What a day, neighbor called wanted help finishing combing. Had the temp control on auto and the air conditioning was running this afternoon.  Calendar says Jan 18th.
