Ethanol Futures

Does anyone know the reason for the spike up in Ethanol futures in the last few weeks?  It has been a long time since it has traded so close to gasoline futures price.

Re: Ethanol Futures

There is very little cash ethanol available.  Cash is driving futures.

Re: Ethanol Futures

Is there a special reason there is a cash shortage, or is this normal for this time of year?  Most ethanol plants have so much corn bought they are out of the market around here.

Re: Ethanol Futures

What does the quanity of corn bought up have to do with the cash price of ET. The ET plants want to stay in bussiness if the price of corn continues to go up. I would guess more ET was used when the oil spill was going on

Re: Ethanol Futures

Is it a supply problem, I know there are several plants down for maintenance right now, or is it demand or a combination of the two.
