FARIBAULT COUNTY, Minn. — Faribault County, Minnesota is made up of 220 square miles, 14,000 people - and one veterinarian.

“I'm it, yep,” Dr. Robert Bogan says from behind the wheel of his 11-year-old Ford pickup.

“I bought it to be the last truck I was going to drive,” Bogan says. “As you can see, I'm still driving it.”

Like the truck, Bogan, at 74, is still rolling into farm driveways long past his plans.

I doubt it, the big outfits have their own vets, just ups the ante.  I had a vet out to dehorn a few cows and shots and whatnot and the bill for a chunk of the sweat filled afternoon was $200.  But you take a Dog in for a little something a few minutes and "$600 Please".

It's a very risky move. You know, we don't have that problem in our city. At one time after university, I took veterinary courses. I thought I would work part-time after my main job because I love animals very much. But after a while, there was a queue of people who wanted to come and see me. I was paid decently, and I began to think about changing my main job. And after six months, I officially got a job at a veterinary clinic, where my experience and good reputation helped.
