Re: Fast turning in Paris
Hey Euro.... I hope that you are having a good year this year.....Let us know how your wheat is turning out when you get into it..... Yes I do believe that wheat acres will be up this year IF the prices stay strong or go higher..... If they go down then it is anybody's guess..... A lot of farmers are disgusted with wheat and it will take a good price to encourage them to up there acres.......p-oed

Re: Fast turning in Paris
The turn around in wheat is here to stay for this fall .... and will continue. As I said in a previous post, the rise in prices will stabilize wheat for next year as farmers that have options will decide to 'go one more year' on rising prices. I'm relatively certain that before this rise the price threatened to cause a steep erosion in future inventories.
The turn around in wheat is probably accelerating for now. The news out of the FSU is worse with every passing day at this point. Part of it is a matter of quantities. Part of it is quality. The internal feed requirements of the FSU are rising and the amount of milling wheat is falling. The US is in a good position with supplies. I'll hazard a guess that exports this next year will rise significantly. If Australia produces a good crop then there will be less volatility in quality wheat. Canada needs a timely harvest.

PS
It is this kind of very natural event that can crush those who are too wedded to technical and seasonal strategies. Unfortunately, margins in wheat are still narrow enough that losses can be difficult to regain on the production end.

How many corn acres do you think could be lost to wheat acres for next year. Based on what you posted, it would seem wheat producers will produce wheat and not corn. Just curious on your thoughts...MikeM

Re: Fast turning in Paris
Had the price for wheat not risen recently then I think wheat acres would have declined in favor of other options in those areas that have them. I don't believe the current price will take away from corn and soybean acres. If wheat prices go considerably higher then there may be some substitution. Higher wheat prices would probably stimulate wheat/soy double cropping if the weather allowed it.
Wheat at $6 is no gold mine, frankly.

Hi Pal
Do you have any idea just how difficult it is to forecast the damages on wheat in such a big area as FSU??
Right now the SOVECON forcaster seems to be truthteller nr 1....
Todays rally ought to have its origin in some new info
I think USA and W EU is more exact forecasted than Russia.
USDA ideas on USA crops is mostly good!!!!!!!!......or not?????
IGC is known to be very optimistic on production
bw
I think the description of damages must reach point of the top and pretty soon we ought to be there??
