Feedyard Talk. 4/29. 10:3o am. side note to marketing corn through meat
Not a lot of talk here about the "SOWS STACKED SIX STORIES HIGH" ..... advertisement on the front page but it keeps rattling through my mind............ and the "just to show they can" dumb comment
Im glad our region hasn't been screwed up enough to need a palace to protect a meat supply of affordable protein.
I have a friend in South Africa who watched the Chinese move into their area and set up 4 different mining operations just to get a good main ingredient for concrete. His words "took what they needed and left the mess".
Is it an advertisement. A billboard for "we can fix this" ego that comes with pockets full of fresh printed cash. Similar to the dot comers on the west coast that now think they have all the answers, even to agriculture and are spending to show us how it's done. What do you think of it and how will they market meat that lives in better conditions than the buyers?
Will we someday have high rise cattle growing in the windy Texas Panhandle? Or is it a tribute to our diligence that we don't need to go to such extremes to clean up our mess?

Makes one wonder?? Where are the animal rights activists and the anti”factory farming “ zealots?? Or is it in the same category as not allowed to burn coal here but we can sell it overseas to burn there?

Yep when Microsoft billionaires own the company stock it will be swine high rise living in a perfectly safe environment.
Ignoring that the employees are prisoners living on the compound most of the year, no ability to leave.
It's all about who's bread is getting buttered.
Which brings up the question,,,,, how do you take the article...... Is it just falling into the "ya can't believe anything in the press these days" category? Was the writer just printing what he is told to write? It doesn't take much to pull the wool over editors these days?
Maybe that is just a new Amazon parking garage for employees in china.

Hey Clayton- I believe that in response to your inquiry as to "Where are the animal rights activists and the anti”factory farming “ zealots??". in china. You will likely find that they are few and far between as the government, with their facial recognition and re-education (re: concentration) camps will and does suppress any talk, action or even ideas that are not in the best interest of...them.
Soooo...big pig farm=good, any other ideas about it= sentenced to work there for the next 20 years!
Just my take on it...talk among yourselves!

I’m sure you are right as far as China goes. I was thinking about the American activist/ protesters. Not sure if it’s an out of sight out of mind thing or thinking that the Chinese leftist communist can do no wrong.

Since the very day al gore's rubber band snapped and started filming polar bear surfers, the world has only had one brand of activist. Political activists have been functioning very well disguised as whatever works to attract press.
China clamps down hard on political activism..... even though one once got a armored tank to stop for a camera.
Which government is more powerful, The one that clamps down on protest or the one that uses every form of protest?
And which one do you favor?
