At 1pm:

Why the soybean rally? One analyst puts it like this: "We are hearing reports that China has a short-term shortage of soybeans at the port, creating a shortage and possibly a squeeze. This is a hard one to verify but Dalian soy futures were up 16 cents/bushel last night to $18.11 so today feels like a little follow through from that.

If I can get anymore verification of this I will pass it along, but that is what we are hearing," he says.

Re: Floor Talk April 14

To me it appears that Milo is standing on its own  Not just stealing corn #'s

Wheat is the real problem child. ..

Is it because we didn't raise it last year or more likely the world is awash in it?

The market is not just about China.

Thanks hobby, I seen similar data can't understand why the U.S. Market is refusing to trade off of the facts stubborn greed I guess.

Re: Floor Talk April 14

rayjenkins,

I had an interesting market comment sent to me about the corn market. It essientially stated that the corn market won't react to delayed planting until Mid-May. What do you think about that?

BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL

Dalian soy futures were up 16 cents/bushel last night to $18.11

Local cash price here is $9.07, I feel so third worldish. We have good to decent highways, a major river on each side of Iowa, and as bonus points a main line of the bnsf rail going through this county and a main line of the UP just two counties north.

It's down hill all the way to New Orleans,

Empty coal trains dead heading all the way to the mountains to the west, can't we sneak in a few loaded bean cars in that line of empties? I'll also bet many of those containers on the unit trains west bound are empty on their way back to China,

let's stand a few.of them on end and fill them up too.

Place the refill stations next to the Wally World distribution centers. Plastic crap out, beans and corn in.

Re: Floor Talk April 14

Marketeye.......that sounds about right.....although we out here in the hinterlands keep seeming to want to plant earlier and earlier, that mid-May benchmark is still watched pretty closely...

Re: Floor Talk April 14

Hobby,

The soybean basis in Brazil's ports are very strong, right now. Here are just two: +65 in Rio Grande do Sul e +50 in Paranagua.

China is a big buyer of Brazil beans. But, get this. I'm being told farmers are still not selling in any big ways.
