Re: Floor Talk, August 19, 2021
Bigshots and everyone around here are going ga-ga over strip-til (maybe not after this cold spring) . One selling point is putting just needed fertility under the seed, not worrying about losing fertility investment if another Bigshot rents it away from them next year. The soil is sort of relegated to a piece of equipment to hold the plant up, if one is in the squirrel cage, that is totally understandable. I`m old school that I like to tickle the soil to loosen, warm and dry prior to planting.
The Heftys reminded that this drought stressed corn may tip over if there isn`t 4% potassium in the cation exchange capacity. But potash is a free lancer and will leech and being a cation will tie up if pH is above 6,5 . This is why I get hives when I hear fertility advice over the internet 🙂

BA, advice never means "do what I do". Advice is always tied to what I can do where I am. Advice just says "you can do far more than you want to do to address a problem."
Economics is the skill required to play the game for the long term. Farming the never ending puzzle of ever changing parts.
