Re: Floor Talk - August 19
MARKET COMMENTARY August 19, 2014
By Raymond Jenkins
A pretty quiet day in corn futures, with the singular feature today being the bull-spreading apparent in the September contract as it gained 1.75 cents while the bulk of the other corn contracts were up a quarter to a half cent.
Although September beans gained on the deferred contracts by a dime or more, almost all soybean bids are now based off November futures. Chicago wheat up 3-5 cents today.
Remember the days (not that long ago) when information from the crop tour came out sparingly, if at all, during the day? Well, that is history as the advent of smart phones, twitter, and other forms of social media have made the crop tour an “on the go, see and read it in real-time event”.
And I can remember when DTN/Farmdayta was the cutting edge of agricultural communication innovation!
