Floor Talk - December 19

At the close:

The March corn futures are trading 1/2 of a cent lower at $4.10 1/2 per bushel.
January soybean futures are trading 4 1/2 cents lower at $10.30 1/2.
March wheat futures are trading 23 cents lower to $6.32 1/4.

 

"The Russians indicated that they would resume buying [wheat] for intervention stocks next week," Alan Brugler, market analyst, tells us. "The USDA weekly export sales report indicated a need for some additional markets, with net sales last week at 509,500 MT including 33,200 MT of new crop."

 

In the outside markets, the crude oil is $2.47 per barrel higher to $56.54, the dollar is higher, and Dow Jones Industrials are 24 points higher to 17,802.

At 10:50 AM:

 

The March corn futures are trading 2 1/4 cents lower at $4.08 3/4 per bushel.
January soybean futures are trading 7 3/4 cents lower at $10.27 1/4.
March wheat futures are trading 12 1/2 cents lower to $6.42 3/4.

 

In the outside markets, the crude oil is $1.93 per barrel lower to $56.04, the dollar is higher, and Dow Jones Industrials are 2 points higher to 17,780.

At the open:

The March corn futures are trading 5 1/2 cents lower at $4.05 1/2 per bushel.
 
January soybean futures are trading 8 1/2 cents lower at $10.26 1/2.

March wheat futures are trading 18 1/2 cents lower to $6.36 3/4.
 
In the outside markets, the crude oil is $1.57 per barrel higher to $55.70, the dollar is unchanged, and the Dow Jones Industrials are 11 points lower to 17,767.

Early calls: Corn is 4-6 cents lower, soybeans 4-6 cents lower and wheat is seen 16-18 cents lower.

Trackers:
Overnight grain, soybean markets = Trading lower.
Crude Oil = $0.82 higher per barrel to $54.93.
Dollar = Higher
Wall Street = Trading higher. Dow is up 421 points to 17,778.
World Markets = Europe stocks are mostly lower, Asia/Pacific stocks are higher.
