Floor Talk January 19

Soybeans and corn were little changed in overnight trading as the bulls are worried about the almost 30 cent price jump in beans the past two sessions and bears are concerned about the delayed planting in Argentina. It seems the overnight traders don't want to commit to anything right now. The dollar dropped but in the past two days has rebounded somewhat, also making trade murky. Trump finally got around to naming a nominee for ag secretary -- former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue is the nominee, and while he's not a farmer, he grew up on a farm and owns a business that works on exporting ag products. From all accounts, he's far less controversial than some of the president-elect's other nominees.

Here's what happened overnight:

Brent Crude Oil = 1% higher.

West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil = 1% higher.

Dollar = up 0.2%.

Wall Street = U.S. stock futures slightly lower in pre-bell trading.
World Markets = Global stocks lower as ECB leaves rates unchanged.

We shall see soon enough. More rain for now better than snow. Sometimes glass is half full how about that.
