I would think the grain markets would escalate along with the tensions of this threat.
Talk is cheap traders. Put your money where your mouth is.

It looks like the traders have taken notice. Just how far can they push it?

Re: Floor Talk, January 20, 2022
I believe it was "Craig VanDyke' on with Chip yesterday who made the statement that Ukraine is a bigger market story than "Brazil". The shall we say conventional wisdom is "Aw Putin won`t do anything, cause they can freeze his bank accounts around the world" weeeeeeell, Putin has had years to contemplate that possibility, so how much money are we talking about that could be frozen and would it be more than the Ukrainian prize? And "Aw, them Ukrainians will fight, they are fighters!" again, weeeeeell, we`ve seen that movie before in Afghanistan. Mike Tyson would knock out seasoned veteran fighters in less than a minute, so risk on is warranted.
Then Chip talked about the Safrinha crop in Brazil, with the country`s expanded bio-fuels production, there may not be any for China.

I thought Ukraine was more linked to corn than beans??
Corn is unchanged and beans are up $0.30 - learn something every day.

Re: Floor Talk, January 20, 2022
here in central Iowa
We can sell beans with a
$14 as the starting # from Feb to July.
Cash corn $6+
Wonder what % of this years crop is still unpriced ,not on a basis contract, not forward sold, just sitting there?
I know of some (2 in my area with 100% of beans. One of them 100% of corn too)

Re: Floor Talk, January 20, 2022
Coincidence?
Bean market rally really took off after this article was posted.
https://www.soybeansandcorn.com/articles/9083/?page=1&
This is not the big soy producing area north of there but it used to only take 5% to make or break a market.
Seems to be 10% + anymore to get honourable mention.
Quality issues because of excessive moisture farther up in the main growing areas.
With this world wide weather I'd be caucus on getting too wild and crazy forward contracting somethig not in the bin.
