I heard China is to build 2 rail roads, one to Amazon river, what is it like compared to our MissIssippi, how far upstrem would bigger ships go?

It makes our mississippi look like a small stream.
Ocean going ships can go quite a ways inland. Cargill's port at santarem is about 600 miles inland and claims are large ocean going vessels can reach nearly 1000 miles inland.
Amazon has 7 times the discharge of the Mississippi and more than double the drainage area.

Thanks for reply,checked it out with Google Maps, on the North end of town shows a point on East side shows Cargill flat storage 500' by 200' and a 1300' conveyor to ship loading dock, good mapping view and quite a few pictures, 500'boat is loading.
