Floor Talk, July 21, 2021

At the close:

At the close, the Sept. corn futures closed unchanged at $5.71 1/2. New crop Dec. futures ended 2 3/4¢ higher at $5.68 1/2. March corn futures finished 2 1/2¢ higher at $5.75 1/2.

August soybean futures closed 4 1/4¢ lower at $14.39.

Sept. soybean futures finished 1 1/4¢ lower at $13.97 3/4. New crop November soybean futures settled 1 1/4¢ higher at $13.89 3/4.

Sept. wheat futures closed 10 1/4¢ higher at $7.10 1/4.

Aug. soymeal futures closed $4.30 per short ton higher at $369.80.


Sep. soy oil futures settled $1.56 lower at 65.46¢ per pound.

In the outside markets, the NYMEX crude oil market is 3.12 higher (+4.64%) at $70.32. The U.S. dollar is lower, and the Dow Jones Industrials are 265 points higher (+0.77%) at 34,777 points.

At midday, the Sept. corn futures are 1 1/4¢ lower at $5.70 1/2. New crop Dec. futures are 1¢ higher at $5.66 1/2. March corn futures are 3/4¢ higher at $5.73 3/4.

August soybean futures are 6 3/4¢ lower at $14.36 3/4.

Sept. soybean futures are 5 3/4¢ lower at $13.93 3/4. New crop November soybean futures are 2¢ lower at $13.86 3/4.

Sept. wheat futures are 9 1/4¢ higher at $7.09 1/4.

Aug. soymeal futures are $3.50 per short ton higher at $369.00.

Sep. soy oil futures are $1.85 lower at 65.17¢ per pound.

In the outside markets, the NYMEX crude oil market is 3.19 higher (+4.75%) at $70.39. The U.S. dollar is lower, and the Dow Jones Industrials are 245 points higher (+0.71%) at 34,757 points.

So, Biden is now caving to big oil when it comes to ethanol. Is anyone surprised?

I thought the green deal was the way they were headed. 

I guess not.

So, what will this do to American agriculture?

Who knows?

My only goal is……not to be the last one to have a farm sale.

Check out the weather forecast for Des Moines Iowa for next two weeks.

They will call it a flash drought.

Nothing flashy about it.

Just a continuation.

I heard talk of silage chopping in one of the Dakatas, I suppose getting ahead of the toxic nitrate build up at the more traditional September chopping date?    That`s a whole other issue, with the short hay, more acres of silage will be chopped.
