Soybeans and grains were mixed in overnight trading on uncertainty about the ongoing trade spat between the US and China. Beans lost about 3 cents, corn was little changed, Chicago wheat lost a penny and KC wheat fell 4 cents. Ethanol production, meanwhile, rose to the highest level in almost four months while stockpiles fell to the lowest in almost four weeks, according to the Energy Information Administration. In weather news, flood warnings and flash flood watches are in effect for much of northern Illinois this morning as rainfall has led or will lead to rivers and streams overrunning their banks and ponds forming due to saturated soils, the National Weather Service said. Check out all the details in today's 3 Big Things.
West Texas Intermediate = down 1.4%.
Brent Crude = down 1.5%

Re: Floor Talk June 21
WCMO,
Here in the sw corner of ks that map changed three weeks ago when our first rumor of rain came in the forecast -- we got the first beneficial rain Monday night this week. If an inch and a half makes up for 9.5 months of nothing and extreme temps and wind. then we could now say it will look better for a couple of days. Rain is in the forcast so usda should have us in flood warnings by saturday.
Your in touble when there is only one source of information and it is modeled off of undependable forecasts.

Re: Floor Talk June 21
SW, glad to hear you got a little rain! You guys obviously have been much drier much longer than here, and likely need that rain to repeat itself weekly for a few/several weeks. We just keep hearing about those "ideal growing conditions to persist despite areas of excessive rain". It's actually raining lightly here right now, maybe get a couple tenths, maybe more if it sticks around awhile, would be nice if it rained like this for a couple of days, non-stop [raining lightly, 70 degrees, 4-5 mph wind, windows open, smells fresh, birds talking -- make that 3 days -- but then, some townies would complain about the rain messing up the local Juneteenth activities this weekend].
Update -- rain lasted maybe 30 minutes, maybe 0.2 inches, but better than 95 degrees and nothing but wind.

The weather comes from the National Weather Service and is pretty good - and a heck of a lot better than it was a few decades ago.
Sometimes the European model seems better, granted.

Re: Floor Talk June 21
Yesterday's NWS service forecast for our area had 4 to 5 days of partly sunny with highs in the 80's.
Just what we needed to get the rivers to start dropping.

Today's forecast has 20% chance of rain for Sunday and 40% chance for Sunday night.
Rain is also in the forecast now for Monday - Tuesday.
