Re: Floor Talk June 28
Just a thought... 95+% of farmers need cash regularly. What happens if the end users decide to only pay X amount reguardless of what some trader in downtown Chitown pushes the CBOT casino amount to? Just a short matter of time before the less stable or farmer with bills and no storage starts to fold/give in. The CBOT prices seem to only be "suggested retail" anymore.
At least 3 out of 4 years the high for months is set the week before the 4th of July, look where we are. Is this the 1 or the three?
The picts I see and stories I hear are that a 1/2 or 3/4" rain isn't going to do it.

Marketeye
Few drops of rain and cloudy for about 1 1/2 hours but sun out and already warmer than what they called for today. Thing that is different this year is basically no subsoil moisture to go on. Living from rain to rain.

Re: Floor Talk June 28
Farm-n-Hawk at least you have gotten rain. Where I sit on the Michigan/ Indiana line we will be lucky to make it through this week with any crop at all. Took a ride around the area this morning and noticed even the irrigated fields are starting to curl. Pivots simply cant keep up. I must also mention that a good portion of the seed corn in this country is grown in this region. Last year their was panic in early July about the health of the seed corn. Last year a lot of the seed corn areas to my west had rain.... Not this year, If we had a year to start getting worried about the seed corn supply it would be this one.

Remember that 2.5 inches of rain we got a week and a half ago? Came nice and slow in 3 events...and soaked in well? Popcorn is all rolled up tight today...stopped spraying soybeans because of the heat. Might give it a go again in the morning....

PUP,
I learned a lesson on spraying beans in heat/water stress this week. Gave it a little folier fert. and thought we were going to have to carve a headstone. Looks better today. Last year they stressed better. they are not curling up as bad this year but they sure reacted to our late night spray.

108 degrees in marshall dillon country. Fall crops going backwards. Corn on Sandy ground flashing with a good moisture. Lesser irrigation giving it up on all soil types.
