Floor Talk - March 13

Good morning!

 

Mike is out on vacation for the next week, so I'll be covering markets for you all! It's Friday the 13th, so if prices slide, feel free to lay the blame on that today. (Just kidding!)

The U.S. Dollar continued to rally throughout the day, driving farm markets and Dow to low points.

 

At the close, the May corn futures are trading 8 cents lower at $3.80 1/2 per bushel. 

May soybean futures are trading 16 1/2 cents lower at $9.74. 

The May wheat futures are 5 1/4 cents lower at $5.02.

 

The May soyoil futures are trading $0.38 lower at $30.49. The May soymeal futures are trading $4.60 per short ton lower at $327.00.

 

"The USD is hurting the US ags again today, rallying another 500 points on the session and peeking into the 100+ territory," explains Alan Brugler, market analyst. 

 

In the outside markets, the Brent crude oil market is $2.37 lower per barrel to $54.71, the U.S. dollar is higher, and the Dow Jones Industrials are 220 points lower to at 17675.

Friday the 13th is working its magic....

 

At midday:
The May corn futures are trading 6 cents lower at $3.82 1/2 per bushel.
May soybean futures are trading 14 1/2 cents lower at $9.76.
The May wheat futures are 6 cents lower at $5.01 1/4.

The May soyoil futures are trading $0.38 lower at $30.49. The May soymeal futures are trading $4.50 per short ton higher at $327.10.

In the outside markets, the Brent crude oil market is $1.07 lower per barrel to $56.01, the U.S. dollar is higher, and the Dow Jones Industrials are 257 points lower to land at 17634.

At the open:

The May corn futures are trading 1/2 of a cent lower at $3.88 per bushel.
May soybean futures are trading 6 cents lower at $9.84 1/2.
The May wheat futures are 3 1/4 cents higher at $510 1/2.

 

The May soyoil futures are trading $0.08 lower at $31.04. The May soymeal futures are trading $1.10 per short ton higher at $331.70.

 

In the outside markets, the Brent crude oil market is $.44 lower per barrel to $56.65, the U.S. dollar is higher, and the Dow Jones Industrials are 91 points lower to land at 17804.

At 7:33 am:

Early calls: Corn unchanged cents lower, soybeans 5-7 cents lower, and wheat 3-5 cents higher.

Trackers:
Overnight grain, soybean markets = Trading slightly higher.
Brent Crude Oil = $0.07 lower.
Dollar = Higher.
Wall Street = Seen lower, focus on consumer sentiment.
World Markets = Europe stocks were lower, Asia/Pacific stocks were higher.

Glad to hear Mike is getting some much needed time off !  Just say'n' - it has to be a hard job to get up at 10 and post up corn steady to lower  -- Smiley Very Happy
