Dec. wheat futures ended 1 1/4 cents higher at $4.86 1/4.

In the outside markets, the Brent Crude oil market is $3.72 lower per barrel, the U.S. dollar is lower, and the Dow Jones Industrials are 386 points lower.

Matt Pierce, Futures International LLC floor trader, says wheat finished stronger on profit-taking.

"Wheat is hardly the leader. This was simply new month money movement. Wheat was "strong" because it holds the only speculative fund short and they are exiting. Beans and corn got beaten up because money is moving out. This could continue all week as funds rebalance.
There was little fundamentally supportive to reverse the negative trend in row crops."
