For the wheat guys: frost damages crops in Argentina

Over the last few days, wheat crops have been worsening in Argentina. Several areas were already being hurt with dry weather. This week was the time for the frost to damage the grains in the west of Buenos Aires province, west of La Pampa, Santa Fé, Córdoba, and Entre Ríos.

The frost did not affect the southern parts of Buenos Aires province and La Pampa - which area significant producers of wheat. The current estimates for production in the year have lowered to 9.5 million tons - from 10 million tons.

Thank-you for the information. How cold did it get and was it over a long time?   What stage is the wheat crop in Argentina at and do you have an idea as to the loss in quantity or quality by this frost?

In the last 24 horas, the temperature ranged from 23 degrees (Fahrenheint) to 32 degrees in those areas. They did not release a number of losses yet. Some months ago, the projection was that their wheat crop would be 12 million tons in this season.
