Re: From the floor March 31

Just stay on the Marketing Talk page. We will start a thread about the CME Group Press Briefing in a few minutes. You'll find it right here on Marketing Talk Page. The link won't be in this thread. But, it will be on this Marketing Talk Page. It will start at 8:15am.  Thanks for tuning in. What did you think of the report?

Re: From the floor March 31

I guess I'm buying..just as soon as I recover from holding my breath for the past week waiting for this report. I haven't sold any 2010 corn yet..no new crop..and have most of my soybeans left from 2010...I hope the weather we trade tomorrow keeps some moisture in the forcast for April in the Corn Belt..we might be able to really push these prices if it does.

..and hey...how about that export number last week for corn...(I'd shout "Wahooooo!" but it might be a little much this morning. )

Re: From the floor March 31

I was happy with it since I was thinking we were going to see a bearish report on corn.   Wheat did not look as good as I was hoping but alot of spring wheat is grown in ND and I am in central ND with a foot of snow on the ground and another blizzard on the way so late spring wheat planting/if any spring wheat planting here might become a concern soon.

Re: From the floor March 31

Pup, I HOPE we see moisture in April in IA.  When the temps warm up here it is going to show that we need moisture(plant in the dust..the bins will bust hopefully).  For those with a short memory.  Last year alot of IA planted early and in ideal conditions(except SE IA), and we know how that turned out.

Higher prices are a fact.  I still think in the long run we will find that what all that money attracts is not good.

Re: From the floor March 31

Jeff I thnk I need something stronger than a cinnamon roll.  I think guys are drooling who are gonna plant cotton.   This is trully speculative.  Rationing needs to start now!  Talked to an elevator yesterday that is almost out of grain in their bins.  THey know that the farmer selling has been heavy so they are very worried about suppl;y this summer.

Also when was the last March you remember with no 70 degree days?  Milk is gonna shoot the moon.

Re: From the floor March 31

As usual with government reports, I fail to see what is so all fired emotional about these changes. I thought it clearly bearish for new crop grain prices (bullish for cotton but that number is clearly wrong).

Corn acres exceeded expectations by a bunch. Total acres did not increase much, meaning they are missing new acres coming/returning to production, so acres will go up more later. Bean acres a real yawner. Wheat likewise.

Ah yes, corn stocks were a little tighter, at $7 corn hasn't the market bit that in already?

Just saying for new crop, the TIME is at hand for the annual high, give or take a week or so.

As Earl Pits would say (WLW cincinnati years ago) "wake up Amerricar"

Re: From the floor March 31

I have to disagree with you. I wonder where they came up with the 13 million more acres to be planted this year. Some would say CRP but USDA # shows only 10,000 less acres in CRP this year vs. last year.

Corn acres in the Dakota's

The video made a good point about corn acres in the Dakota's think we'll get a million acres roughly, increase up there???

The big corn states didn't make a big increase in acres.

And cotton, Is cotton higher price to plant then corn?

RIce,  i don't like rice anyway, but i did hear that it is too dry in arkansa to flood the rice fields, if its that dry there, are they in a drought??

What would a drought do this year??????????
