Gas is $1.99 in mesa,AZ today.....now if we could get farm fuel down there it would help offset the other high inputs such as fertilizer and seed!!!

Re: Gas and diesel prices

It looks very likely that diesel will go under $2.00 per gallon.

In West Texas, retailers are selling clear diesel as low as $2.82 per gallon and unleaded for as low as $1.84 per gallon.  Prices continue to drop almost daily.

Re: Gas and diesel prices

Although that is better than what it has been in recent years, I'm not sure if I'd contract just yet at that price.  My opinion of course.

Re: Gas and diesel prices

elcheapo,

I do not know what your location is, but I would agree with Shaggy98 on waiting to contract.

Here’s why:

WTI Crude closed at $54.73 today, down $1.11 since Friday.

WTI Crude closed at $107.52 on June 16, 2014. In just over six month’s time crude has dropped almost 50%.

Much of the Midwest is selling unleaded under $2.00, and highway diesel for less than $3.00. It looks likely that the rest of the country will soon decline to those levels as well.

Fuel prices at gas stations, continue to decline.

With harvest finished in most of the United States, and with several months before spring planting (most of the holiday travel is now behind us as well), volume is likely to decrease, increasing supply.

The market has had a steady decline, and shows no sign of slowing down, even the holidays failed to raise prices.

My opinion:

I think highway diesel will be selling for less than $2.00 in some of the Midwest before mid-February 2015.

I also think that it is likely that unleaded may sell for less than $1.00 at some stations before April 2015. Maybe much sooner.

I may be completely wrong on this, only time will tell.

You have a much better idea of your situation than anyone else, and whatever decision you make, I wish you well.

Thank you for sharing your Coop information.

Stephanie
