Happy daze are here again

Well more air is being pumped into the debt balloon. Is there a plan to ever reduce it. The economy will never recover until obamscare is dealt with and the debt is reset. Simple math folks . Good for commodities for awhile. 2008 will be a walk in the park when the gig is up

425Cat,

I did not know that Obamacare drained our economy. I thought it was the wars, Prescription drug plan for the elderly, SUBSIDIES...etc.

Check out "Got a sandwich" and see if that helps explain?

Re: Happy daze are here again

The math includes some facts raising questions that are seldom addressed. It's not as simple as assumed by many, and that is often obscured by the rhetoric.

Most industrialized countries pay around 11+% of their GDP on health care and all are covered. These countries have a variety of methods that are more or less market oriented in terms of operation but arrive at about the same result.

The US spends more than 17% of GDP on health care - and a large proportion of people are not covered.

Further, the US is nowhere near the top in terms of the health of its population or outcomes of disease and infant mortality.

That's the math. There are huge discrepancies in this math that need to be addressed and questioned no matter how you slice and dice it.

Re: Happy daze are here again

Simple question is who will pay and what cost. Higher taxes more debt???? The country needs growth but the guy in the whitehouse is too busy restributing.

Re: Happy daze are here again

We are all already on the hook for all of the poor medical choices people make, whether it is the lack of preventative care, or numerous visits to the emergency room because of the lack of sensible care, but we are already paying the tab for those. I doubt that the costs come down for medical treatment at this point, but I hope they won't keep increasing at the current rate due to nonpayers and the uninsured.Something needed to change, maybe this isn't exactly what we wanted, but it is a starting point. Throwing the whole works out at this point won't gain anything. Hopefully we can refine it and make it better as time goes by with minor adjustments instead of major knee jerk reactions. The previous system was terribly inefficient. Telling another human they should just suffer and die isn't a very humane choice, either.

Re: Happy daze are here again

Raising the debt ceiling does not incur more debt. It is the congressionally approved expenditures without the revenues that causes the debt. The teabaggers want to use the debt ceiling to intimidate democrats and the president into concessions they cannot win in the halls of congress. They lack the power of persuasion. We will have some indication that they are serious about the debt when the repeal the Bush tax cuts. Anything else indicates that they don't want any personal responsibility for the debt or the obligations to bond holders or SS and medicare repipients.

One debt is the same as another. Did you think yu were always gonna pay for your reckess spending with SS funds?

Mike obamacare is a disaster its nothing more than a power grab. Don't know of anyone being told to suffer and die today. The price is cost prohibitive to young families . Much of what we were told about obamacare were lies. The insurance preniums are exploding.
