I would guess that there are quite a few answers to the hail damage/no ears scenarios. Private crop hail companies can handle it however they please per the policy language. I would guess if it happens to a guy this year, they would be fairly generous and pay him something since, to date, there has been minimal hail storms and loss ratio for companies with also be minimal. I have only ever had one claim, and they paid 40% loss, based on expected 40% yield loss.

I know when I have had hail damage on good corn they act like they did me a favor by thinning the crop out a little. I asked the adjuster how much I owed him then. I guess that indicated that we weren't going to get along.
