Heard a rumor

This is at least 4th hand so take it as so.I heard a few days ago that either Cargill or Adm was buying corn in the Dakotas and shipping clear to one of their plants in eastern Iowa.Just wondered how cheap corn is In the Dakotas and what it would cost to ship it across the better part of 2 states

If corn gets down to 2.25 to 2.50 in Iowa will it be down to a buck a bushel out west?

Re: Heard a rumor

Yes corn is less pricey out/up there . Is a feasibility study on a new E plant going into SD right now to chew through some of it. 25,000,000 bu a year facility.

Re: Heard a rumor

The issue has to due with the inability to get the railroads to commit to transporting loads of grain. They apparently are make big money hauling oil, and those commitments are filling up the available rail capacity in ND. This is going to be an issue up there that is not going to go away anytime soon. Talk about producers, and elevators, caught in a bind.

Re: Heard a rumor

If the producers own some of the land that oil is coming from I'm sure they'll understand.
