So how many ton per acre will something like that make?

Hoping for 10 ton to the acre.

Also should add the insurance guy says it will average about 50 bu. per acre.

Re: Here's why I got time this morning to post pics.

Your pictures point out just how variable the crop is and hard to predict just how much or little yield is out there.

While we have not suffered quite as much as you, our fields are variable too and corn is short.

Going to be more corn chopped just to fill the same bunk and more corn chopped to make up for the shortage of hay.

Then there is the lack of grain on some varieties from poor polination.

Neighbour has a silage variety with few kernals so will need more energy to balance the diet whether that is grain corn or something else.

There is always something to break down or wear out. That is the best thing about custom hire. They got better equipment than I could afford and when it breaks it's under warranty. Plus i don't have to replace any $1000 plus tires.

That corn silage with low corn content, will you have to spike that with shelled corn or is it satisfactory for dairy cows without.

Well we always "spiked" our ration with corn anyways. Just need more.  Yes I am taking donations if you wanna help out! LOL

I'm shocked, you're tearing that apart without a cutting torch or welder in sight!!!...I've always said, I couldn't farm if I didn't own a welder and know how to use it!!..LOL
