Hold on
well it's raining................will not be able to do much tomorrow, so maybe i can loaf a bit tomorrow...i hope
This song was on the radio this afternoon, and I thought it was kind of nice, had a good beat and had an
uplifting little message.............so i looked it up on youtube...........as a bonus, the video has some
nice scenery.....(sorry, the video i wanted had a broken link, so used the one below)
the song's title is "hold on one more day"
www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hy_qMUHGP4
as i listened again to it , i got to thinking, so i did some looking on the cme website.............
and you know, maybe if we would "hold on for one more day".........maybe it could be in our favor
corn dec 331 july 355 dec17 372
kc wheat now 412 dec 438 mar 454 july 474 dec17 512
beans tho.............i don't know what song to say for them, other than perhaps the funeral march.......
sep 1001 july 974 nov17 936
the song says "you got your self in this mess"....which is true...we have been hoping...holding, waiting for something
better because of our expenses..."
it later says "some day someone will make you turn around and say goodbye"......maybe...say goodbye to
your current market source...or maybe, all the "pain", will make you change, and start to market things harder,
and maybe use some of the "tricks", that our friends at the elevator and CME...use
the thing that keeps rattling in my mind is, how to get around the basis problem.......i'm told by an elevator
man, "things have changed".........that operations cost have went up so much (i guess so, from the
manager driving a "regular" pickup, now up to a denali) and now using "bunker" systems, which were
used to be considered "emergency storage", dumping grain on the ground and throwing a tarp on it,
more and more grain facilities are using that as their "primary"....storage systems, citing more rapid
unload, and lower building cost than a structure........but.....the operations cost......which is something
we pass on directly....is far higher....more quality issue....and as sw stated in a thread.....more spoilage.....
we now "accept" that aspect, when we never did before........
basically, the gain people has gotten "sloppy"......and we are paying for it........they have NO incentive to
build more permanent structures.........when they can do what they are doing now, and making good money,
why go in debt and make less money ((maybe a lesson we all should take to heart)).
he said, from now now, he didn't think basis would ever come back to levels several years ago.
anyone else have some ideas what or where to go from here ?
