You could have been the only farmers in Ind who planted much corn in April in 1983 since it was so wet.
There has been some interesting work done in Ohio on how much soil degradation reduces the ability to capture the genetic improvement in the genetics. If you lose enough top soil to solar, water, and wind degradation or erosion, and then burn off enough carbon with tillage, it takes pretty good improvement in genetics to stay even. Of course, this is where I will wobble into the soil health issue and anyone that does tillage will get quite upset with me. So, I better not go there.
