SE Illinois...Epicenter of the Hurricane Bill clusterf*&^.....we had 9.5"....7 of it came in less than 3 hours. Here is a look at our 160 in Wayne County, Illinois....Planted to soy June 4.....5" day after planting...and now this.
If you calculate another 200 acres of double crop which will not be planted.....that is abound 450 acres of soybeans out of production for me.....and I'm not alone...some guys got hit worse than this....as they never had an opportunity to even plant.
What Chip Flory is saying is 2008 Iowa bean acres is kind of an analog year for prevent planting. March 08 Iowa bean acres was called "9.8 million", later it was "9.4 mil" however for the final acre tally it was "9.75 million acres" ..so in the scheme of things only 50,000 acres were unplanted in Iowa in 08. It sounds like it`s better to concentrate more on how the yield will be hurt due to beans not liking wet feet.
Jerry Gulke is saying farmers shouldn`t be suckered into planting just because of the latest modest rally, if they go up a little more realize that it`s late and put the pencil to it if prevent plant is a better option.
