So is Bernie the nominee? And more importantly if Bernie got in would he actually do anything on trade or do wealth redistribution?

The Chinese are communist and run trade surpluses with every country they deal with.  The US is supposedly "capitalist" and run trade deficits with about every country that we deal with (except Egypt and maybe Israel) .  We prop up communism, we carried the Soviet Union kissing their butt supplying them wheat.  Now with China, we stock our stores with their slave labor produced junk and in return they lend us the money right back to us.

Communism would implode on it`s own without us "capitalists buying our hanging rope from them".

"Bernie Sanders is a socialist/communist." --- No matter what he promises  he must confiscate or gain control of all wealth first  before redistribution.   His mistake is he, like most who worship DC, thinks all wealth is formed and found in congress.  But in fact most all wealth is created privately..... They think they can build enough debt publicly to offset private wealth, and somehow that equates to control.

All they are doing on the "debt train" is destroying the system or constitutional freedoms.  The Private money will walk away and already has in Technologies.

Can federal debt be called to account on the backs of private citizens?  Maybe that is Bernies "plan" for confiscation.

I think Bernie has no plan...... He just says what he thinks folks want to hear and makes money from federally funded election share.  The tantilization of communism, no responsibilities, economic equality,  a wise ruling elite, and with the tech boom, full traceability, tracking, and social activity limits.

Taxing ones own citizens is a communistic policy.  Look at the communist manifesto.  You don't know what a constitutional conservative is. Everybody is dumbed down by hitler type populist leader.

Silver, it`s great you want to be principled, but how exactly does a true fiscal Conservative get elected???  Trump never claimed to be a conservative, however as damned liberal as everyone else is these days, any political figure that just gives a semblance of keeping campaign promises comes across as "raging conservative"...liberals hate Trump...hmmm why is that?  Conservatives love Trump....discuss.  "never-trumpers" hate Trump because they want cheap immigrant labor and "export US inflation" by indirectly utilizing Chinese slave labor.

This coming election, you have two...only two choices choice:  1. President Trump  Choice 2. the person Joe Biden picks to be his temporary vice-president.  There isn`t some "Grover Norquist" running as a viable 3rd party candidate...half the damn country vote solely based on candidates that promise the most and there is no beating Democrats on that!

I really don`t know how Trump could`ve spent a nickel less or taxed us a nickel more without slamming us into a economic depression and that was before Covid19, now all bets are off for spending going forward.

Liberals hate trump?  It is all a show.  If we can't get a conservative elected, then "we are all dead".

In other words, US is going down.  It doesn't really matter?  Why fill out a ballot?

Re: I mean, come on now, make up your mind already, huh. Trump's equivocation on Phase One.

Silverwheaton, the bird has flown on fiscal responsibility, decisions made post 9/11/2001 to spend +$1 Trillion for revenge .."if you go out for revenge, first dig 2 graves".  We always come up with a gimmick to make this thing go longer that any rational person would think. 1913 federal reserve and federal income tax 1970-something close the gold window, 1980-something borrow money 2010s QE printing and borrowing.

The latest gimmick is to push currency creation and see how far that can be pushed and being as the Dollar is the cleanest shirt in the hamper, we will all be surprised how far congress spending and Fed printing will go.  Oil is transacted in US Dollars, we are the world reserve currency, so it`s in the world`s best interest to whistle through the graveyard.

One day some will take a haircut...some will lose their heads and probably holding off that day is for the best.  A Mad Max/Walking Dead world isn`t something to conjure up prematurely.

But, how would one balance a budget with $20-$25 Trillion national debt?   Half the country will only vote for you if you want free college, free health insurance and open borders.  Fiscal responsibility does not win elections that come every 2 and 4 years.
