Well we are now offically in the holiday season........oh joy
holiday season- end of the year, when notes are due, property taxes due, need to buy a bunch of gifts, every non profit know to man sends you a letter asking for a donation, weather gets cold, and the cold and flu season starts, and you run
50/50 odd of having to spend 12 hours with the inlaws in the same house........lets all join hands and sing a few lines from "we wish you a merry christmas"
i think i now know how the famous term from the movies "this town isn't big enough for both of us"......i think the famious line
was inspired by a holiday get thogether with the inlaws and outlaws.......
well all is good in the world........i see the markets are open today, wheat is now below $4 a bushel here locally...
and i see dtn today is running a story about the nitrogen market......how the last several years have been "difficult"
for nitrogen producers.....hmmmmm, didn't see my bill go downl
One of the "joys" of the holiday season is getting to see and share bread with your inlaws and outlaws.....
i was lucky this year, some of my relation was giving me market advice.....he told me i should have sold the
wheat as it came off the combine......had to have a spoon full of gravy to help the bite of turkey to go down
at that moment.......the problem is.......that $%@ might have been right !!!!!!..........
here he has no idea about the markets, farming, etc.........yet..... oh well, i grabbed another brown and serve roll and put
some "healthy" marigine on it, and ate it in silence.......
it was a truly a festive event.......another relation told me he was watching some stuff on youtube, and he found a person
on there that reminded him of me...........i thought for a while.......who could that be ?????????
i thought perhaps he was watching some documentory about albert einstine.......or other intelligent and enlighted
persons..........
no........it was victor meldrew......the principle charactor in "on foot in the grave", a bbc comedy..........
so once everyone was gone....the food put away, the house was quiet......i sneaked onto the cold porch, and got me a slice
of pumpkin pie, got into the freeze and got me a scoop of sugar free coolwhip (hey, a calorie is a calorie !)
and i settled into my position looking at the computer screen......i was happy, my pumpkin pie, and a diet coke
and was going to look on youtube and watch this "one foot in the grave"...........found it.......i do believe the fellow
is older than me.........but i watched a couple of epposides........and i have to admit...i could identify with him !!!
The general unhappyness caused by goofy people and how things are not the way they used to be and thats half the
problem......how in general, the entire population has went nuts except for a select few........
maybe that's my problem with marketing anymore.......we have "changed"......the way the market acts, what it has
turned into, who is in the market place, what they use as market determination news, etc..........i was told a while
back, i needed to get with it.....i was stuck in the old days................perhaps it could be my problem............
tune in a couple of eppisodes of one foot in the grave on you tube it's a bbc product...........see if you have anything
in common with victor or if some of the situations sound fimular...............
maybe this will help us understand ourselves and why we can't understand why wheat should be under $4.00 a bushel.
all this market talk is making me feel funny, i don't know if i need a tums or more cranberry salad.
