Maybe I've had those tanks longer than I thought.  I was actually working as a consultant in the oil and gas business form 2005 - 2012. Geology, Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering. We were selling consulting services to oil & gas exploration companies at a starting point of $40,000 per month per consultant. Heady days...

After the precious metals came back to earth I did pick up some St. Gaudens Double Eagles MS65 for ~$1000 each. Something to give the kids and grandkids someday.

I think it was Fed chair Greensnap who said it was the easiest to correct deflation, because all you had to do is print money.  IMO now things are different, the thin line of keeping us out of a depression without printing so much money that they collapse the Dollar will be the real magic trick.

In my opinion, in a situation like that, you shouldn't believe anyone. There are many talks around this situation, and it is impossible to know what to do and how to do so so you won't lose any of your invested cents.
