Importers not likely to sit around and wait for prices to go lower

Wheat harvest not started and barges piling up on the Columbia/Snake here and train depots are arranging strings of cars they haven't been able to get for awile. Somebody smells a bargain for SWW and this will be a shorter than usual crop for harvest.

[It's the 'take a cookie' strategy that also applies to the other side. Though wheat would be the finest prospect at this point. Corn and soy will have to see some more developments. China is the 'decider' but, as always, will bide their time.]

Re: Importers not likely to sit around and wait for prices to go lower

My contention is that cheap prices get a higher percentage of the "low hanging fruit" faster. Anybody ever tried to explain to a loan officer why you didn't sell before it got even cheaper?

As alluded to in another post, many do not have the financial luxury and or the storage to wait this thing out. Bills and debt to service.

The other side knows this and are just like buzzards waiting in a tree for that old crippled cow to take her last step.

This farming thing has had a record long period of profitability. I believe it lured too many to be asleep at the controls. The really sad part is many dry land farmers in the western states missed out on this record run.

There has been talk of us old timers having it easy. Yep piece of cake right now conspired to the days of quotas, set a side's, LDP' s , loan rate prices, and payment in kind.

Is there really that many here that think there would never be a bumper crop that we would have to work out from under?
