Interesting that yopu made that comment. I was just thinking that the American middle class is being destroyed by the tax structure and too big too fail 'must have loopholes' non captialism.
Rome destroyed it's middle class by capitalizing their rich with cheap slaves and broke the 'free men' and Athens (a democracy at the time) just made stupid decisions by the demogagues that whipped up their fellow citizens and they took brinksmanship to the limit - and destroyed themselves with their partisanship.
In principle we're doing both.
